MASCA Victoria Sports was conceptualised in 2010 by MASCA Victoria’s first Vice-Chairperson of Sports, Wan Syabil Aqwa. Prior to that, MASCA Victoria have only organised one sporting event annually, the MASCA Victoria Intervarsity Games (IVG).
The IVG was usually held as a precursor to the Malaysian Summit of Australia (MASA) Games. Hence, the IVG's role was limited to selecting Victorian representatives for the NCG.
Noticeably, there was a lack of a holistic sports program for Malaysian Students in Victoria. Therefore, it was from this vision that MSports department was formed to organize more sporting events that would increase student participation in organized sports, offering them unique opportunities to unite and build networks.
Besides, MSports seeks to nurture future leaders through organizing sports by forming a strategic network to make a difference be it in the sports arena or any other field in future.
MSports is the athletic arm of Malaysian Students’ Council of Australia, Victoria (MASCA Victoria) which serves to provide a platform for students to play sports at a competitive level and also to network through state-wide sport events, including the annual Malaysian Games.
